Our Restoration Partner

Kodak Alaris has partnered with veritree to aid in agroforestry restoration initiatives in East Rwanda that not only give back to our environment through verified tree planting, but more importantly, help create sustainable futures for entire ecosystems. In 2024, we are planting 40,000 trees in East Rwanda to aid in this effort.

What Is Agroforestry?

Agroforestry is a sustainable land-use approach that combines trees, crops and sometimes animals on the same piece of land. Agroforestry integrates diverse elements to create mutually beneficial relationships to boost productivity and nurture ecological balance. Kodak Alaris has committed to planting 40,000 trees in 2024 to support this cause.

Rwandan Farmer, Jean Pierre provides an impactful perspective on agroforestry emphasizing that trees are not simply plants but valuable assets for the community to rely on for security and livelihood.

Reimagining Our Responsibility
Rebuilding the Ecosystem

  • Extensive and non-sustainable farming practices have led to soil erosion & landslides
  • Agroforestry equips farmers with necessary resources for sustainable practices to improve soil health and climate resilience
Poverty & Hunger

  • In Rwanda 32% of children under the age of 5 suffer chronic malnutrition and nearly one-fifth of the population is food insecure
  • Tree species planted in this region contribute to greater, healthier crop production and improve food security
Labor Impact in Rwanda

  • 200 workdays are provided with every 10,000 trees planted
  • Farmers are empowered to plant more trees, earn higher incomes, and improve overall livelihoods
